Heather Wall rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Fans of Aussie Shiraz rejoice! Yalumba story teller Jane Ferrari describes this wine as B classified Shiraz. And that's not B for Bad. Simply means "little brother" to some of Yalumbas's bigger Shiraz.
Full bodied and packed with fruit. Red berries, plum, cassis and sour cherry. Black pepper, anise, plum pudding palate with round tannins balanced with lots of fruit. Long sour cherry and herbal finish.
Winemaker suggests several years of aging left in this wine but great now. Decant 30+ minutes. Burnt BBQ ribs, herb encrusted roast beef suggestions.
Valérie Dufour rated this wine as 85/100 with the following review:

This is the second wine to Yalumba The Octavius. A really traditional Shiraz with aromas of red liquorice, fermented cherries and lots of spices. The tannins are melted. A crowd pleaser if you are a fan of Australian Shiraz.

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
