Sicily! The first time I saw this wine at LCBO I said: “Finally a typical wine from this region in the South of Italy”. Taif is a very good expression of Zibibbo grape, famous for the Moscato di Pantelleria or the Passito. This wine, compared to the two mentioned before, is dry but it still maintains the main characteristics of the Muscat of Alexandria that in Sicily is called Zibibbo. Fruity, with beautiful notes of nectarines, ripe pineapple, apricots and vanilla, Taif is not the typical wine for a aperitif due to its high alcohol volume (13 per cent). Intense on the nose, with a complex range of flavours, this wine is very good with turkey.
Visual examination: crystal-clear in limpidity with golden yellow color, Taif is a consistent wine, the typical product that you can find in this region known for the hot temperatures during the entire year.
Olfactory examination: Intense, complex, with a fine quality, this wine has floral and fruity notes very well combined with a robust body.
Taste-olfactory examination: dry, warm due to 13% of alcohol and smooth due to the high presence fo polyalcohols, this Zibibbo still maintains a good acidity and sapidity. Balanced wine, in the mouth it still keeps its intensity and persistency. A full bodied wine highly recommended for an entire meal, ready to drink and harmonious. In few words a sip of Sicily in your glass. Salute!
