Zephyr Sauvignon Blanc from the Dillons Point sub-region of Marlborough's South Island is a medium-bodied, certified organic white from a fourth-generation family farm just under two kilometres from the sea, where the prevailing coastal breeze keeps the vineyard cool and the aromatics lifted. On the nose it's precise and vibrant, with white grapefruit, fresh elderflower, a whisper of fennel seed, and a cool saline edge from the nearby coast. The palate is taut and energetic, with lemon curd, green apple, crushed limestone, and a long, flinty finish with bright, mouth-watering acidity. Winemaker Ben Glover returned to his family's fourth-generation farm in 2016 after building his reputation as chief winemaker at Wither Hills and several other major Marlborough producers, and all 21 hectares of the Glover estate are now BioGro certified organic. Serve it well chilled now through 2027 with steamed shellfish, where the wine's saline mineral character is a textbook match, or try it with fish tacos and a mango lime slaw where its bright citrus edge ties everything together.
