Dark cherries, blackberries, dried lavender and some wet stones on the nose following through to a medium body with fine tannins. Round and velvety with a caressing texture and fruity finish. Drink now. (90 points jamessuckling.com,Sept. 2, 2023) MINE: From the Ventoux, Rhône wine region, Xavier Vignon 2021 is an elegant and well-priced Rhône red at $19. Produced from Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre wine grapes, the wine is fresh, dry, medium-bodied and juicy with dark cherry, blackberry, wild herbs, subtle spice and stony flinty flavours savoury and lingering on the palate. Tannins are fine-grained and rounded. NEW: Ventoux sits in a cooler pocket of the southern Rhone, in the shadow of the mountain that gives the appellation its name, and Xavier Vignon's blend of Syrah, Grenache, and Mourvedre reflects that. Dark plum and black currant come with a peppery lift, and the wine feels rounded and generous rather than gripping thanks to fine tannin. As you swallow, a herbal note comes through. Try it with a sausage and bean cassoulet, or even a good hamburger.

Food pairings: sausage and bean cassoulet, gourmet hamburgers, Salisbury steak.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
