2023 Volta Estate Winery Chardonnay, VQA Prince Edward County, Ontario Barrel-fermented Chardonnay usually announces itself from across the room. This one keeps its voice subtle. Yellow plum and quince come first, then lemon oil and a dusting of toasted hazelnut from the oak, which sits behind the fruit rather than on top of it. The acidity gives this wine energy. The finish is dry with a stony note that I'd expect from a wine twice the age. Serve it at 15°C. Pair with grilled shrimp, corn with pecorino, or a Thai green curry.

Chardonnay food pairings: Grilled shrimp with herb butter, corn with pecorino, Thai green curry.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
