Natalie's Score: 90/100

A delicious vibrant Ripasso Valpolicella Classico Superiore with juicy red berry, dark cherry, dried flowers, savoury herb and dark chocolate flavours on the palate. Tannins are firm and chewy so the wine could easily age in cellar for a three more years to mellow and show its best. But it is satisfyingly delicious now. Decant for two hours and pair with a prime rib roast

Ripasso Valpolicella Classico food pairings: veal tenderloin, rich tomato sauce and pasta, roast rabbit.

Reviews and Ratings

Villa Girardi Bure Alto 2016 Ripasso Valpolicella Classico Superiore from the Veneto wine region and great value under $20. Dark red in the glass, fragrant on the nose with dark plum, cherry, wild herb, cedar spice aromas. Full-bodied and juicy with fleshy blackberry, dark cherry, savoury herbs, sweet spice flavours. Tannins are firm Great acidity for a meaty lasagne. Villa Girardi was founded and is run by Franco Tommasi. - Community Wine Reviews

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
