Reviews and Ratings

Monique Sosa - Accredited Sommelier rated this wine as 86/100 with the following review:

Not what I expect from a Chianti Classico. Aromas are mild to borderline dull. The dominant notes include a little earthy funk, baking spice, and blackberry. The palate shows questionable balance of moderate tannins, moderate to high acid and a lack of fruit/flavour concentration. Tasted July 2016. @sommsosa | bespoketastings.ca
Time to bring out the spaghetti and meatballs for this robust, dark cherry and smoky Old World Italian red wine. Villa Cerna is an estate that has it vine roots in the Middle Ages around the year 1000. The Villa's current day vineyard has 83 hectares of wine grapes overlooking the southern entrance of Chianti Classico. Chianti Classico Riserva is only made in the best years from the villa's best Sangiovese grapes. Aged in 14 months in barrique and barrel, then another 10 months in bottle, Villa Cerna Riserva Chianti Classico 2012 has structure, balance and a refreshing acidity to match any rich tomato sauce. - Community Wine Reviews

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
