Reviews and Ratings

Basilica Cafaggio / Lots of maturity on the nose of this attractive Italian red wine with aromas of tanned leather, cigar box and dried herbs. Nicely balanced acidity. Medium-bodied and mouth-watering. This wine is aged for 18 months in French oak barrels. Pair with veal. MINE: Villa Cafaggio Cortaccio is a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon red wine from the Tuscany wine region and is aging nicely just showing some signs of maturity and it quite elegant. Look for dried cherries, leathery notes and spice on the palate. Villa Caffagio dates back to 1498. OTHER: Rachelle O'Connor rated this wine as 93/100 with the following review: This full bodied Tuscan red is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, the bouquet is impressive - leather, earth, wild game, coffee and cassis. The palate is exquisite and packing a punch of flavors including cassis, cherry, balsamic, leather, game and gloriously silky tannins. Truly outstanding. OTHER: A big Tuscan cabernet highly drinkable right now. A little burnt sugar and cedar enhances the fruit on the palate which is beginning to dry out. A charming, mature find still with a good deal of personality. Both juicy and oxidative, a somewhat odd sensation on the palate but not unwelcome. Compelling and showing above average complexity for the price. Try with duck confit. Score - 90 (Sara d'Amato, winealign.com, Sept. 29, 2016). - Community Wine Reviews

Red, White & Drunk all over by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean writes about wine with a sensuous obsession... and often laugh-out-loud funny... Terrific.

Ms. MacLean is the disarming Everywoman. She loves wine, loves drinking ... ultimately, it's a winning formula.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
