Two Hands Bella's Garden Shiraz 2022 Wine Review

The 2021 Bella's Garden Shiraz is from the Barossa Valley and, like last vintage, shows all the earth and might of the Barossa dirt. It has red earth, licorice, iodine, blood, layers of mulberry and blackberry and metal shavings. Interestingly, it is sedate on the palate but very long. This suggests it might need a decant or, at the very least, might benefit from one. It is a lovely wine that is big, buxom, dense and persistent. I really love the finish - it is chewy and full, very satisfying. 14.4% alcohol, sealed under Diam. Drink date: 2023-2033. (Erin Larkin,robertparker.com,Aug. 24, 2023) MINE: From the Barossa Valley, Two Hands Bella's Garden 2018 Shiraz is a rich and mouth-filling Syrah produced by Michael Twelftree. Dry, full-bodied and dense with dark berry, plum, dark cherry, savoury herbs, cracked pepper and cedar spice flavours long and luxurious on the palate. A portion of the grapes were whole bunch fermented with regular pumpovers over 16 days and the wine was matured for 17 months in French oak barrels (14% new). Drink or hold. A good cellaring candidate and excellent value. NEW: Michael Twelftree built Two Hands around single-vineyard Shiraz, and Bella's Garden shows the Barossa's raw power at its most concentrated. Black olive and a whisper of iron lead the way, warm tobacco trailing behind. Chewy tannins carry a long, satisfying finish, dense and structured throughout. Pour it with burgers topped with blue cheese or a marinated flank steak.
