Sweet mocha and chocolate on the nose and palate of this full-bodied, lush, smooth Californian red wine. Pair with Mexican mole.

Reviews and Ratings

Corinna Horton rated this wine as 86/100 with the following review:

A powerful woodsy nose, burgundy colour, and tasting notes of blackberry, plum, cocoa and spice. Paints the glass with long, leggy streaks and an leaves an enduring finish.

A solid table wine, but likes a good, long breath. Better the next evening, when we didn’t quite finish the bottle, more mellow and rich. Purchased for the name alone, let's face it, we're all up to no good this way you can blame the wine.
(53% syrah, 37% mourvedre and 10% grenache from the 2008 and 2007 vintages, with a bit of 2009 added for brightness) Vivid ruby. Dark berries and spices on the nose, with a subtle peppery note adding lift. Supple, gently sweet red fruit flavors are a tad loose-knit but show a velvety texture. A straightforward but juicy, fruit-driven wine and very easy to drink. Score: 87 Source: Josh Raynolds, International Wine Cellar
