Reviews and Ratings

Alana L rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

One of our Thanksgiving picks, and what a delightful find! Bought on the recommendations of LaPresse’s wine reviewer in an article from a few weeks back, we paired it with rack of lamb and braised mushrooms and it was unanimously loved by our table of disparate wine lovers! The Thymiopoulos family has only recently started making their own wines (and all according to biodynamic principles) though they have been growing grapes for many generations. A beautiful and deep garnet colour; combining wood, spice (pepper) and slightly floral on the nose and dry and full-bodied yet with a good level of fruit on the palate to balance everything from a taste aspect. The tannins are firm, well-balanced, and with a good level of freshness (Xinomavro is mainly cultivated in the cooler northern hills of Greece). We carafed for an hour before serving. Could easily be cellared for quite a few years (our SAQ advisor thought up to 20, we went with a more conservative 10 but beautifully drinkable now).:

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
