Reviews and Ratings

Greg Hughes rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

This Merlot is sourced from Hawkes Bay - the huge bite taken out of the eastern face of the North Island. It was mostly sourced from their Omahu vineyards, located in the renowned Gimlett Gravels. The Gravels specialize is bordelais reds. Particularly, Malbec and Merlot are quite nice from this area. That is reflected in the final blend of this Merlot, Which also contains 6% Malbec and 4% Merlot.
The aromas are very much represented by the Merlot and the Malbec - plum and boysenberry. Lingering smoke, cocoa, and vanilla from what is mostly French oak.

Flavours of tarragon, clove, plum, blackberry, loam, and a mineral zing. Fruity and aromatic. Fairly typical of Hawkes Bay. The fruit are quite dark, but have lots of levity.

Very fresh - not meant for aging long term. I would suggest keeping this wine for no l longer than 3-5 years. Pair it with barbecued parsnips wrapped in bacon.
Wine has just gone into bottle, I should have the notes by the time the wines arrive
