From the Niagara Peninsula wine region in Ontario, Amarose is an appassimento-style rosé and there is a lovely concentration on this Pinot Noir and Chardonnay blend of ripe strawberries, rich berry compote and fresh herb flavours that is voluptuous and incredibly delicious. Great acidity for food. Pair with grilled salmon dishes.

Amarosé food pairings: mild curry dishes, white turkey meat, fish tacos, salads.

Reviews and Ratings

L.J. Palmer rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Lovely deep pink, almost light ruby in colour, probably due to the appassimento method. Aroma of fresh strawberries, dried herbs, pomegranate, cranberry and a savory note close to cured ham. Tastes of ripe strawberry, dried herbs, pomegranate and cranberry. Not strong enough to stand up to smoked salmon but very pleasant with grilled chicken and white fish or as a stand alone sipper.
The Foreign Affair 2018 Amarosé is so labelled because this rich and juicy rosé is made in the appassimento style of concentrating flavours by drying grapes prior to fermentation. The origins of this method come from Italy and not a method usually employed in making a rosé. This rosé from the Niagara Peninsula is made in this way with a blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wine grapes and is concentrated and rich on the nose and palate with rich red berry, cherry flavours and a smattering of dried herbs. - Community Wine Reviews
