From Boekenhoutskloof, Swartland wine region, The Chocolate Block (2019) is always a crowd pleaser with its full-bodied, fruity mouthful of smoky dark cherry, plum compote, baking and pepper spice, savoury herbs, menthol and mochanilla flavours. Produced from 70% Syrah with the balance in Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cinsault from the Goldmine and Porseleinberg farms. Tannins are structured and grippy. Good now, better in 2022. Pour with roast beef, pork or leg of lamb.

Reviews and Ratings

The Chocolate Block 2019 is a rich and medium-plus bodied red wine blend of 71% Syrah, 11% Grenache, 9% Cinsault, 8% Cabernet Sauvignon and 1% Viognier. Juicy and lush with earthy florals, spiced plum, dark berry jam, pepper and baking spice flavours on the palate. Tannins are firm. Decant two hours prior to pouring with an equally juicy roast beef or cellar for five to eight years. - Community Wine Reviews

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
