A beautiful Montepulciano D'abruzzo vibrant with grippy tannins. Full-bodied and earthy with layers of ripe red berry, dark berry fruit, dark chocolate flavours with a lingering smoky and spicy finish. The wine was aged 24 months in Slavonian oak barrels. The wine was first produced in 1997, by Carlo and Adriano Spinelli. Tatone is the local word for "grandfather," and the name given to the wine because it reflected the strength and authority of their grandfather. Pair with bison burgers.

Montepulciano D'abruzzo food pairings: pasta with Bolognese sauce, rabbit stew, roast chicken with olives.

Reviews and Ratings

From the Abruzzo wine region, Terra d'Aligi Tatone 2016 is a dry and full-bodied Montepulciano D'abruzzo at an awesome price. Supple with ripe red berry fruit, black currant, earthy, savoury herbs, spicy with dark chocolate flavours finishing smoky on the palate. - Community Wine Reviews
