A fresh 100% Trebbiano di Lugana white wine, fragrant with white florals, white-fleshed stone fruit, lime-lemon citrus zest and though dry, a honeyed-flavoured finish. Well-balanced and well-done. Chill and pair with shaved cucumber, feta and fennel salad with a simple olive oil and lemon juice dressing.

Food pairings: shellfish, pan fried cod fillets, oyster poor boys.

Reviews and Ratings

Greg Hughes rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

This is 100 percent Turbina with a little bit of age on it. It is a grape that many in the wine community are really on to. During a trip to the Lake Garda area, they are particularly proud that this grape is getting more recognition for quality and concentration. Prices haven't gone up on it yet, but you should see that eventually change as the higher quality ones like this become nore sought after.
This is a classy white that is bone dry, fresh, with tons of body and complexity.
Low and controlled yields yield concentration from these fifty year old vines. Unlike other cuvees from this producer, it never saw barrels.
Pale lemon yellow, it is pretty nervy and full of life. Whiteflower, marzipan, orchard fruit on the nose.
High acid, but decently big mouthfeel.
Flavours of honey, melon, lemon juice, yellow plum, and a slightly jarring finish. It is still aging and could for some time.
The best comparison one cpuld provide is maybe to France's Savenniere Chenin. It needs time to really shine. It has an intellectual character ill suited to impatient guzzling.
If you are shopping for a wine nerd and you want to get them something interesting for a good price, they will definitely like this.
Around lake garda, this was often served with snails served in butter and garlic. If that is a little weird, it is pretty tasty with lightly seasoned salmon or trout.
As a side note, Turbina is not to be confused with the less exciting Trebbiano Toscano.
This grape is unrelated and usually goes by the name Trebbiano do Soave or Trebbiano di Lugana. Wouldnt it just be simpler if we just refered to it by a distinct moniker?
From the Lombardy wine region, Tenuta Roveglia Vigne Di Catullo 2014 is produced from old vines 100% Trebbiano di Lugana (Trebbiano). Fragrant with honeyed apple, white florals, sweet spice aromas on the nose. Rich and creamy with ripe pear, white-fleshed stone fruit, almond and anisette spice flavours and a zesty finish on the palate. Delicious with a pasta and creamy shellfish dish. - Community Wine Reviews
