A smooth, supple, medium-bodied wine with attractive aromas of mocha and toasty oak along with plush, fleshy black plum. Layered and complex. This wine would pair beautifully with grilled pork chops.

Food pairings: herb-crusted rack of lamb, dry-rubbed beef short ribs or venison sausage.

Reviews and Ratings

We created our first Growers Blend Meritage to showcase the best performing varietals of each vintage. The 2011 blend was assembled from 42% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot and 18% Cabernet Franc, carefully sourced from select Niagara Peninsula vineyards. The nose is expressive, the Merlot contributing vibrant red fruit — think strawberry, cherry and redcurrant — as well as darker notes of chocolate, baking spices and a touch of a lavender from the Cabernet and the 18 months spent in French oak. Fruit is also dominant on the palate with notes of cranberry, raspberry and a hint of cedar. With its lively acidity and structure, this cellar-worthy wine will delight for years to come!
