From Vinemount Ridge, Niagara Peninsula wine region, Tawse Quarry Road 2021 Pinot Noir is produced with organically grown grapes by winemaker Paul Pender. Fragrant and vibrant with ripe blueberry, earthy violets, raspberry, bright cherry with accents of sous bois, smoky and savoury flavours and awash with food-friendly acidity. Tannins are pleasantly grippy, so decant the wine one hour prior to pouring it with lamb chops from the grill. The wine spent 12 months in French oak barrels (20% new).

Pinot Noir food pairings: braised lamb with mushroom, duck confit, grilled veal chops.

Reviews and Ratings

L.J. Palmer WSET 3 rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

The wine is pale ruby in colour, with a pronounced nose featuring raspberry, sour cherry (Montmorency), a pleasant earthiness with hints of herbs and a nice streak of minerality. Acidity is medium+, tannins are medium and fine grained, and wine is medium bodied. Flatbread topped with Comte cheese, basil and mushrooms sauteed in red wine reduction paired beautifully with it; this wine appreciates mushrooms. For dessert try premium dark chocolate, 70% cacao.
Wine was decanted an hour in advance of drinking.
Tawse Quarry Road 2021 Pinot Noir is produced by winemaker Paul Pender from organically grown grapes. Fragrant and juicy with ripe dark fruits, sweet baking spice (from oak treatment) dried fine herbs, earthy and vanilla flavours fresh on the palate, this Niagara Peninsula PN is totally harmonious with a beautifully balanced acidity. The wine was also matured 12 months in French oak barrels (20% new). Enjoy it through 2030. - Community Wine Reviews
