Tahbilk Marsanne is one of Australia's most quietly extraordinary white wine treasures, an unwooded, 100% Marsanne from the Nagambie Lakes region of Victoria that offers exceptional aging potential and outstanding value in equal measure. It is off-dry, light-to-medium-bodied, and refreshingly low in alcohol at just 12.5%, with a captivating nose of freesia, wattle blossom, ripe mirabelle plum, and a cool streak of lime cordial that gives the wine a pristine, almost ethereal aromatic purity. The palate is bright and zesty with a juicy, mouth-coating acidity, a gentle mid-palate creaminess that opens up its considerable food-matching versatility, and a clean, refreshing finish with a tangy citrus snap that lingers invitingly. Serve it well chilled and enjoy anytime through 2038, as unwooded Marsanne is one of the wine world's most fascinating and rewarding grapes for long-term cellaring, developing a rich, honeyed complexity with age that bears little resemblance to its youthful, floral beginnings. Tahbilk, established in 1860, is one of Australia's oldest continually operating family-owned wineries and holds the remarkable distinction of having some of the oldest Marsanne vines in the world outside of France's northern Rhône Valley. Pair it with golden pan-fried crab cakes and a tarragon aioli, where the wine's citrus brightness and creamy mid-palate will complement the sweet delicate crab beautifully, or serve it alongside a herb-crusted pork tenderloin with roasted fennel for a satisfying and surprisingly elegant match.

Marsanne food pairings: crab cakes, pork tenderloin, steamed lobster.
