Tasting this in 2016 to see how well this icewine has aged: good news, it's still great! This is a succulent blend of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Mourvèdre, and Syrah grapes. Luscious aromas of strawberry pie. Pair with fruitcake, gingerbread, and spice cake. MINE: Stratus Red (2016) is an Icewine from Niagara-On-The-Lake wine region. The unusual part is, it is a red Icewine blend of 40% Petit Verdot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Cabernet Franc (10.7% abv and 135 g/L residual sugar). Decadent and juicy sweet like summer berry pie. Pair with fruitcake, gingerbread, spice cake or creamy blue cheeses. OTHER: A blend of cabernet franc, cabernet sauvignon and petit Verdot, Stratus' red icewine brings pretty notes of red berries (strawberry, raspberry) as well as a lovely floral note that lingers in the background. It's a medium bodied, viscous icewine offering sour cherry and raspberry flavours as well as underlying tangerine and dried apricot notes that are accentuated by the rich, opulent sweetness. The vibrant acidity manages to tie it all together on the relatively long finish. Score - 90 (Ben MacPhee-Sigurdson, winealign.com, July 19, 2019). - Community Wine Reviews

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
