Stonehaven Cabernet Sauvignon is a full-bodied, extra-dry red from Coonawarra's prized terra rossa soils, sourced from 40-year-old vines hand-pruned to a tight 5 tonnes per hectare yield. The nose opens with dark blackberry, licorice, and a hint of cedar, deepening on the palate with mulberry, warm spice, and fine-grained tannins from 18 months in French hogsheads. The structure is serious and the finish is long. Serve it at just below room temperature and cellar it confidently through 2045. Winemaker Ben Wurst has spent over two decades crafting cool-climate wines in the Limestone Coast, and was named by James Halliday as the driving force behind this wine's exceptional quality. The winery itself has a striking backstory: Hardys built it in 1998 for $18 million, it sat in mothballs for years, and was revived in 2021 when South Australian family business CW Wines acquired it and relaunched the brand.

Cabernet Sauvignon food pairings: slow-braised beef short ribs with red wine and thyme, roast rack of lamb with Dijon and breadcrumbs, aged cheddar and charcuterie board.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
