Natalie's Score: 92/100

This is a rich, full-bodied California Merlot with a smattering of Syrah, Pinot Noir and Malbec added to round the wine off. From an excellent vintage, beautiful with lush dark plum, dark cherry, baking spice and savoury herb flavours smooth on the palate. Nicely balanced. Pair with a filet mignon.

Merlot food pairings: roast pork with apricot compote, crown pork roast with corn niblets, roast chicken.

Reviews and Ratings

Sterling 2016 Merlot is rich and lush on the palate with crushed raspberry, red berry, dark cherry, citrus and savoury herb flavours silky on the palate. Nicely balanced with a plushy finish. The wine was matured in one-third new French oak, American and Hungarian oak barrels. Pair with a pork tenderloin Wellington. - Community Wine Reviews
