Reviews and Ratings

Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

Intense popcorn, butter, caramel butter scotch, vanilla on the nose. Creamy, round, long butter and vanilla finish. This is a terrific oaked chardonnay if you really like the effects of lots of toasted oak (tendency to hide the fruit). I enjoy both unoaked delicate Chards, and really enjoy the opposite too, which this is. Great on its own, and would pair well with a wide variety of creamy, hearty, dishes. Baked beans, butternut squash soup, roasted chicken...

Sean O'Regan - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Nov 21, 2013: Blind tasting NCSG Vintages pre-release. Pale gold, immediately upon pouring, pungeant mineral/flint popcorn and tobacco leaf give way with a few minutes of air to citrus, apple and melon enveloped in vanilla, butterscotch and oak spice. Fullish on the palate and nicely textured, with a medium finish, this may integrate a little better with a year in cellar.
A monumental Chardonnay from a monumental producer. Sets the scene with rich notions of pineapple, banana custard, melon and toast. It's rich, opulent and mouth-filling with a toasty, tropical finish. Enjoy over the next 4-5 years. Source: Vintages Wine Panel, Oct. 2013
