Reviews and Ratings

Matt Steeves - Certified Sommelier rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

Spoken Barrel #42 is a blend of 85% Cabernet, 12% Syrah, and 3% Merlot from Columbia Valley, Washington State. Nose shows dark berries, black cherry, dark chocolate, pepper, and spice cake. The palate is extra dry with black cherry, cacao, graphite, and fine tannins persisting on the finish. Enjoy with grilled steak fajitas. Tasted February 2020. 88+ points. Matt Steeves - www.quercusvino.ca
From the Columbia Valley, Washington Spoken Barrel 2016 is a fresh and rich blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Merlot aged in stainless steel tank with 40% in French, American and European oak barriques. Tannins are grippy right now, but there is beautiful, dark plum, cherry, smoky vanilla and meaty flavours on the palate. Drink now or cellar for three years. Pair with a well-marbled rib eye steak. This vintage was awarded Silver at the 2019 San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition. - Community Wine Reviews

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
