Reviews and Ratings

Bella Mcdowell rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

I recently enjoyed Silver Oak's 2005 Napa Valley Cabernet at a dinner party (hosts with great wine taste I might add)and was reminded of how much I love Silver Oak Cabs. It pours a very dark red with a musky nose of tobacco, pepper, and dark berries. It is silky and smooth with tastes of tobacco, pepper, and dark cherries. The finish is long, and after savoring it, I want to come back for more.
Good deep red-ruby. Musky aromas of cassis, licorice, game, tobacco leaf and subtle brown spices. Velvety-sweet and deep, with hints of tobacco leaf, mint and herbs giving definition to the middle palate. Nicely bright but youthfully tight wine, finishing with broad tannins. Carrying a moderate 13.5% alcohol. Still tight, but then this won’t be released until next winter. Incidentally, following Silver Oak’s purchase of a vineyard in Soda Canyon in 1999, this wine now relies less on contract fruit. Score: 91(+?) Source: Stephen Tanzer, International Wine Cellar
