Reviews and Ratings

Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Herbal, rustic and savoury are best adjectives describing this Tuscan red wine. Dark cherry, vanilla, Italian dried herbs, violets, earth, and leather balanced with bright acidity and some youthful tannins. A long sour cherry and warm spice finish. Suggest decanting. Pair with lighter meats, game, pizza, pasta with tomato sauce.
Tasted: March 2015
The Mazzei family have been the owners of this Italian winery, Castello di Fonterutoli, since 1435. The 2011 vintage of the Chianti Classico Riserva Ser Lapo offers black fruit aromas and firm tannins. Decant 1-2 hours. - Community Wine Reviews
