Sekeida Mountain Vineyard's Garnacha from Ibérica, Calatayud is a structured, medium-bodied red wine offering notes of ripe cherry, red plum, smoked blackberry, and star anise. This dry wine displays firm, velvety tannins and layered complexity that will continue to develop over the next two years. Serve it at room temperature with grilled pork chops as the wine's juicy fruit complements the charred meat, or pair it with wild boar sausages where the wine's controlled power stands up to the gamey flavors. Winemaker Miguel Calatayud crafts this flavorful Garnacha from high-altitude mountain vineyards in Calatayud, where old vines planted in slate soils and dramatic temperature swings create wines of remarkable concentration and minerality. The Sekeida project showcases the exceptional quality possible from Calatayud's ancient Garnacha vines, producing wines with textured structure and dusty complexity at accessible prices. This excellent-value Garnacha represents outstanding quality under $15 and will drink beautifully through 2028.

Garnacha food pairings: meat pies, grilled game sausages, pork chops from the grill.
