From Tenuta San Guido, in Bolgheri, Tuscany wine region, Sassicaia 2018 is a cult Super Tuscan produced from 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc, and now a classic in its 50th vintage. Fragrant with ripe plum, chocolate, anise and minty aromas, powerful with ripe red berry, cherry, black olive and spicy flavours lifted and ultra-balanced on the palate. This wine is not just wine, it is an experience. Needs some time in cellar to show its best. Try in 2024.

Food pairings: filet mignon, pork tenderloin, pizza, pasta, hard cheese.

Reviews and Ratings

Tenuta San Guido Sassicaia 2016 is a amazing. Everything about this 85% Cabernet Sauvignon and 15% Cabernet Franc red wine blend is balanced, focussed and absolutely done with precision. The wine is powerful, smooth with layers of blue florals, dark plum, dark cherry licorice, cedar spice and wild herb flavours on the palate with a lingering mineral finish. Tannins are fine and polished. - Community Wine Reviews

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
