A robust, characterful Italian red wine with lots of layers of pleasure. A big improvement over the previous vintage. Earthy, dusty and chalk dry, this full-bodied, balanced Italian red wine features notes of dried cherry and herbs. Lots of acidity that demands tomato sauce.

Chianti Classico food pairings: sausage and bean cassoulet, meat lasagne.

Reviews and Ratings

Ama's vineyards are composed of argilo-calcerous soils and are planted along the top of a ridge in the commune of Gaiole in Chianti. Grape vines from here are low yielding delivering some very interesting wines. Castello Di Ama San Lorenzo Gran Selezione (2013) is earthy with dusty herbs on the nose, dried cherries and more dried herbs on the palate. Pair with your best pasta and rich tomato sauce dish. - Community Wine Reviews

Red, White & Drunk all over by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean writes about wine with a sensuous obsession... and often laugh-out-loud funny... Terrific.

Ms. MacLean is the disarming Everywoman. She loves wine, loves drinking ... ultimately, it's a winning formula.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
