Reviews and Ratings

Rosewood Chardonnay from the Niagara Escarpment V.Q.A. is a beautifully crafted, medium-bodied white that draws on both the youngest and oldest vines from Rosewood's two estate vineyards on the limestone-rich clay soils of the Beamsville Bench and the cooler Twenty Mile Bench, fermented in stainless steel to preserve purity of fruit before spending 18 months ageing on the lees in oak to build a satisfying creaminess and depth. It opens with a generous nose of golden apple, poached pear, and a lifted whisper of honeysuckle, with tropical nuances of guava and white peach emerging as the wine breathes, all balanced by a bright, lemon-edged acidity and a subtly toasty, mineral-driven finish. At just 12% alcohol it is light and elegant, best served just below room temperature. Winemaker Ryan Corrigan, an Ontario native who has made wine across New Zealand, Australia, California, and British Columbia, brings a distinctly neotraditional philosophy to Rosewood, blending Old World patience with minimal intervention to let the escarpment terroir speak for itself. Fascinatingly, the Rosewood story began not with wine but with beekeeping, a three-generation family passion that began with founder Eugene Roman's father in Ukraine and today lives on in the estate's on-site apiary, making Rosewood one of Ontario's most genuinely unique and storied wine properties. - Community Wine Reviews

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
