Roger & Didier Raimbault Sancerre A.O.C. from Verdigny in the Loire Valley is a bone-dry, medium-bodied 100% Sauvignon Blanc blended from two distinct soil types: terres blanches, a calcareous clay over Kimmeridgian limestone that gives the wine weight and a silky texture, and caillottes, a limestone and gravel terroir that lifts the aromatics and adds freshness. On the nose it's precise and fragrant, with white grapefruit, fresh gooseberry, flint, and a cool saline marine note. On the palate it's taut and focused, with lemon curd, green apple, crushed chalk, and a long, mineral-driven finish with bright, mouthwatering acidity. Winemaker Didier Raimbault joined his father Roger in 1996, and together they work 51 parcels across 17.5 hectares using a gravity-flow winery integrated into the hillside. The Raimbault family has been growing vines in Verdigny since the mid-17th century, now in its tenth generation. Drink it now through 2031. Pour it alongside oysters on the half-shell, where the wine's saline mineral edge and bright acidity are a Loire Valley pairing made in heaven, or try it with clam linguine where the wine's citrus notes cut cleanly through the olive oil and garlic.

Sancerre food pairings: oysters on the half-shell, mussels Portuguese, clam linguine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
