Natalie's Score: 92/100

A deep, dark and big California Cabernet Sauvignon with a splash of Malbec and Cabernet Franc from Knights Valley, and one of the most eastern and warmest of Sonoma's AVAs. Intense with blackberry, cassis, dark cherry and crushed raspberry flavours ripe and smooth on the palate. Separated from the Pacific by the Coastal Ranges and the Mayacamas Mountains this area does not experience any of the cooling fogs and breezes for which much of Sonoma is known.

Cabernet Sauvignon food pairings: hearty meat dish, chicken, braised lamb.

Reviews and Ratings

Linda Mertes WSET 2 rated this wine as 88/100 with the following review:

A full-bodied Cabernet Sauvignon blend with Malbec and Cabernet Franc, from Sonoma Country. Dark berry and chocolate aromas with baking spices. On the palate, blackberry dominates. Medium fruity finish. Pair with beef.
From Sonoma County, California, Rodney Strong's Knights Valley 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon is a rich, full-bodied Cali Cab with a splash of Malbec and Cabernet Franc added just to make it more interesting. Good complexity. Rich on the plate with black currant, blackberry, black cherry, spiced plum and smooth vanilla flavours that linger on the palate. Pair with a grilled prime rib steak. Knights Valley is the easternmost, and one of the warmest, of Sonoma's AVAs. - Community Wine Reviews
