Reviews and Ratings

Brent Gushowaty rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Eye:
Pale depth. Just a bit of purple on the rim.

Nose:
Grape bubblegum, cherry, sulphur, tar. Good length.

Palate:
Some grippy grape tannins. Very savoury, old world style. Good acidity. Should develop further over the next 2-5 years

Value Rating: 84

Other Information:
The grapes for this wine are 100% pinot noir and were sourced from two vineyards, the Castle vineyard in the Golden Mile Sub-DVA (86%)and the Savard Vineyard in Summerland (14 %)

The grapes were cold soaked for 8 days before starting the fermentation with wild yeast by heating up the must. The grapes were then hand plunged. The wine was aged in French oak for 16 months – 15% new – and it was aged a further 4 months in stainless steel barrels. This wine was neither fined, filtered or pumped in the process.

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a feisty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
