Reviews and Ratings

Alana L rated this wine as 85/100 with the following review:

Tasting a delightful ‘orange’ wine, Rigal Original Gros Manseng, IGP Cotes de Gascogne, France 2018. ‘Orange’ (in brackets) as there seems to interestingly be some debate as to whether this wine is white or orange in the wine community - the head sommelier here at Bar Le Flaneur having classified it as orange. The grapes for this wine are harvested when overripe, resulting in an increased natural concentration of sugar in the grape. Once harvested, the grapes then follow a low-temperature fermentation in thermo-regulated tanks to preserve their fruit. Both of these winemaking processes result in the ‘yummy’ (highly untechnical but relevant here wine term!) mellowness of this wine.

Colour semantics aside, it’s delicious and fresh with heaps of tropical notes (mango, ripe orange and quince). Light gold in colour, medium intensity, well-balanced with a rounded mouthfeel - it’s highly drinkable and refreshing!

Cheers friends!
