A full-bodied Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon, deep violet in glass with rich blackberry, earth violets and pepper spice aromas on the nose. Dry with fresh blackberry, black currant, savoury herb flavours finishing spicy with toasty oak flavours on the palate. Good now, but will start showing its best in a couple of years.

Cabernet Sauvignon food pairings: grilled venison steak, slow-braised beef long ribs, roast pheasant.

Reviews and Ratings

Craig Haynes WSET3 FWS SWS IWS rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Sweet vanilla scents, jammy red berry fruit flavors and soft tannins stole the spotlight in this medium to full bodied Cab. From vineyards nestled between the Pacific Ocean and the Andes mountains, this elegant 2016 vintage displayed the desirable fingerprints from its 12 month maturation in French and American oak. Enjoy.

From the Colchagua Valley, Ravanal 2016 is a Gran Reserva Cabernet Sauvignon and great value under $16. Fragrant with fresh blackberry aromas with ripe dark and red berries, dried tobacco leaf, cedar spice and cracked pepper flavours finishing long on the palate. Tannins are firm. Decant one hour prior to pouring with grilled chops or hold for another year or two to marry and mellow. - Community Wine Reviews
