Big and rich Italian red wine with generous layers of dark plums and smoke notes and mocha. Terrific price! Good aging potential but also ready to enjoy tonight with pizza. This medium-bodied blend of 80% Montepulciano and 20% Aglianico grapes offers lots of depth of flavour in the glass. Mouth-watering and perfect for ribeye steak. VERY nice!

Food pairings: hearty meat dishes.

OTHER: The up-front mulberry and plum fruit is ripe and fleshy in this balanced red, with polished tannins. Notes of licorice string, graphite, tarry smoke and grilled mushroom push through mid-palate and on the finish. Drink now through 2021. Smart Buy. Ranked #74 in Wine Spectator's Top 100 of 2014. Score - 90 (Alison Napjus, winespectator.com, April 30, 2014) - Community Wine Reviews
