Reviews and Ratings

Daniel O'Keefe rated this wine as 92/100 with the following review:

The beautiful intense colour, a nearly opaque purple-black, hints at the concentration to come. Jammy prune, savoury dried herbs, black pepper, black tea, and black cherry dominant, accented by raisin, sandalwood, and perfume. Excellent bouquet, so layered and complex. The palate is dry, tannic, and pleasantly acidic despite the ripeness and alcohol of 14.5% ABV. Flavours of pepper and spice, fresh blackberry and black cherry, and cacao nibs. Ripe, jammy, and dried dark fruit through the long finish. Keep it simple and allow the wine to shine; grilled steak with salt and pepper.
From the Barossa Valley Powell & Son 2016 Shiraz is a robust, big red with intense layers of blackberry, dark plum and cake spice flavours on the palate. Juicy and meaty. Enjoy now and for the next 10 years. Pair with a slab of roast beef done rare. - Community Wine Reviews

Red, White & Drunk all over by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean writes about wine with a sensuous obsession... and often laugh-out-loud funny... Terrific.

Ms. MacLean is the disarming Everywoman. She loves wine, loves drinking ... ultimately, it's a winning formula.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
