Poplar Grove CSM from Okanagan Valley is a rich, layered red blend showcasing notes of blackcurrant, dark plum, and crushed herbs with hints of white pepper and vanilla bean. It's dry and full-bodied with supple tannins and bright acidity that carries through to a lengthy, spiced finish. Serve it at room temperature with braised short ribs as the wine's depth and savory character will complement the rich meat beautifully, or pair it with roasted lamb with herbs where the wine's peppery notes and structured tannins will enhance the savory flavors. Winemaker Stefan Arnason, who joined Poplar Grove in 2008, crafts this Bordeaux-style blend from 47% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, and 23% Syrah sourced from the Holler family's estate vineyards in Osoyoos and Penticton. Poplar Grove, founded in 1993, is one of the original five wineries on the Naramata Bench and was purchased by Tony and Barb Holler in 2007, with their four sons now farming over 140 acres of estate vineyards. This wine drinks beautifully now or can cellar for 5-7 years to develop additional complexity.

Food pairings: braised short ribs, roasted lamb with herbs, aged cheddar cheese.
