Poggio Il Castellare Brunello di Montalcino from Tuscany is a dry, full-bodied wine crafted from 100% Sangiovese Grosso, revealing perfumed aromas of violets, roses, sour cherries and mulberries with a coastal minerality, while the palate luxuriates in dark berries, cocoa and espresso with a hint of loam framed by firm, pleasantly grippy tannins and lively acidity. Serve it at room temperature with braised wild boar with juniper berries, where the wine's persistent tannins and earthy complexity complement the rich, gamey meat, or pair it with grilled ribeye steak with porcini mushrooms as the wine's dark fruit and coffee notes harmonize with the savoury, umami-rich dish. Winemaker Maurizio Alongi oversees production at Poggio Il Castellare, an estate in the heart of Montalcino that crafts traditional Brunello using time-honored methods and extended aging to create wines of exceptional depth and longevity. This rich Brunello can be enjoyed now or cellared through 2032 as the tannins continue to soften and the complex layers unfold.

Brunello di Montalcino food pairings: roast duck, goose, sausage and venison ragu, mushroom risotto.
