Poggio al Tesoro Mediterra from Tuscany I.G.T. is a bold, medium-to-full-bodied Super Tuscan blend of Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, grown on the organically farmed coastal vineyards of Bolgheri where the cooling Tyrrhenian Sea breezes and complex alluvial soils produce wines of remarkable depth and personality. It opens with an intense, brooding nose of crushed wild blackberry, iron-rich earth, warm leather, and dried rosemary, while the palate is dense and layered, with a silky, approachable tannin structure framing a core of dark stone fruit, bitter cocoa dusting, and a whisper of toasted oak that carries through to a long, concentrated finish. Serve it at room temperature and allow it to develop through 2032. Winemaker Christian Coco crafts this wine under the watchful eye of proprietor Marilisa Allegrini, who together with her late brother Walter founded the estate in 2001 after falling in love with Bolgheri's proximity to the sea, its remarkable soil diversity, and its potential to produce reds rivalling the finest of Bordeaux. Fascinatingly, the first vineyard Poggio al Tesoro acquired, Le Sondraie, sits directly beside the legendary Ornellaia estate and was previously rented by that very same iconic producer.

Food pairings: slow-braised beef cheeks with a rosemary and red wine sauce, grilled lamb chops with roasted eggplant and fresh herbs, aged pecorino with truffle honey and toasted walnuts.
