Reviews and Ratings

Mymi Thesingingsommelier - Sommelier, FWS rated this wine as 83/100 with the following review:

This Pisse-Dru Beaujolais is produced by The Patriarche Maison, a négociant-éleveur (wine merchant and producer) that crafts a wide range of wines.
Located in the heart of Beaune in Burgundy, Patriarche is able to offer wines from all of Burgundy's appellations thanks to sourcing through reliable, quality-oriented winegrowers with whom close partnerships have been in place for many years.
The name Pisse-Dru refers to an old expression used by winegrowers in the Beaujolais region during the harvest. The grapes were said to "pisse dru" when they reached maturity meaning that they were bursting with juice.
This wine is made with the Gamay Noir grape.
In the glass, it is a light but bright purply-red.
Perfumy on the nose with delicate aromas of spring flowers, strawberry chews, cherries and red plums.
Dry and light on the palate but with tons of red liquorice, touch of dried crushed fennel seeds and marshmallows. Very soft tannins, juicy acidity and a persistent fruity finish.
Lovely on its own or to accompany canapés that combine mild cheeses with dried fruit!

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
