Reviews and Ratings

RISERVA / A distinguished and vibrant Brunello with mouth-watering acidity for tomato and meat sauces. Full-bodied with tart black cherry and smoke. Pair with truffle dishes. Wow. MINE: This Brunello Di Montalcino is from the Tuscany wine region. Pietranera Riserva (2010) is ripe red and dark of plums, leather, meat and savoury spice. The Brunello is full-bodied and still has grippy tannins. So, decant for an hour prior to serving with a rich tomato sauce dish or meaty lasagne dish. OTHER: Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review: A medium garnet colour with aromas and flavours of toasted oak, fig and prune, stewed red fruit rounding out with warm baking spices. There's some firm tannins that need taming so I suggest decanting 1-2 hours if you're enjoying it tonight. Otherwise, hold for a few years and be rewarded. Some lingering warm alcohol on the finish. Enjoy with a beef stew, veal, lamb and game meats. Tasted: April 2017. OTHER: Sweet tobacco and earthy notes with dried baking spices and dark cherries. The palate has a very smoothly delivered core of spiced dark cherries. Good balance and depth here. Try from 2021. Score - 94 (James Suckling, jamessuckling.com, Sept. 11, 2018). - Community Wine Reviews

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
