Full-bodied, savoury and delicious! Aromas of cedar, wild black cherry and forest floor. A classic French red wine for hedonists. Polished tannins, excellent length, depth and breadth of flavour. Great replays on the palate. This is a traditional blend of Rhone Valley grapes, including Syrah, Grenache and Mourvèdre. Pair with lamb and rosemary.

Food pairings: roasted lamb.

Reviews and Ratings

Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 91/100 with the following review:

The Gigondas appellation of the Southern Rhone offers excellent wines for exceptional value; often similar in style to CdP but more pocket friendly. This is a typical blend of Rhone red varietals - Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre- and permitted grapes in CdP as well. Deep ruby in colour with some nice legs showing extraction. Aromas and flavours of black cherry, blackberries, vanilla, dried herbs, earth, leather, baking spices, pepper, fig, mocha with a rich mouthfeel. The tannins are softening and acidity is bright and cleansing. It's drinking nicely now but there's potential for cellaring. Great value for the $30 price tag. Pair with finer cuts of red meat or game.
Tasted: April 2015
The Gigondas region benefits from cooling winds from the Dentelles de Montmirail. The Grenache grapes grow slowly in the sandy soils, ripening to great complexity. This is a French red wine blend of 90% Grenache and 10% Syrah grapes that were sourced from several different vineyards. The 2012 vintage of the Gigondas La Gille dark fruit and cedar smoke. - Community Wine Reviews
