Panizzi Vernaccia di San Gimignano is a lovely, terroir-driven white from one of Tuscany's most historically significant appellations, crafted from organically grown grapes in the rolling hills surrounding the medieval tower town of San Gimignano. It is dry, medium-bodied, and gently textured, with an elegant nose of ripe yellow plum, honeyed citrus, a delicate touch of chamomile, and a waxy, almost lanolin-like quality that gives it a pleasing Old World character. The palate is bright and mineral-driven, with a subtle salinity woven through the mid-palate and a creamy, softly lingering finish that rewards slow sipping. Serve it chilled and enjoy through 2026, as this is a wine that celebrates freshness and immediacy over long cellaring. Vernaccia di San Gimignano holds a proud place in Italian wine history as the first wine ever to receive D.O.C. status in Italy back in 1966, a distinction that speaks to the enduring prestige of this ancient Tuscan grape. Winemaker Giovanni Panizzi, who passed the estate to his team of dedicated collaborators, built this winery from the ground up in the 1980s with a singular vision of elevating Vernaccia to its rightful place among Italy's finest whites. Pair it with a bowl of linguine tossed with clams, white wine, and fresh parsley, where the wine's saline minerality and citrus brightness will mirror the briny sweetness of the shellfish, or serve it alongside a platter of thinly sliced prosciutto and fresh ricotta on grilled bread for a simple but deeply satisfying antipasto.

Vernaccia Di San Gimignano food pairings: salads, seafood pasta, light cheeses and cured meats.
