Fleshy sweet ripe blackberries and black cherries on the nose and palate of this robust, supple Italian red wine. Lots of layers. Surprisingly robust with mouth-filling weight and texture or Valpolicella which borders on Amarone in weight. Pair with roast beef.

Valpolicella Ripasso Superiore food pairings: prime rib roast, hearty winter stew, meat lovers pizza , spicy sausage.

Heather Wall - CS; WSET Advanced rated this wine as 90/100 with the following review:

Juicy red and black berries with red licorice, vanilla and pepper. This is a weighty Valpolicella considering it's 14.5% abv but it doesn't taste "hot." Smooth in the art of seduction as it leaves you wanting more! Pair with veal picatta, meaty lasagne, veal pizzaiola or crudite platter.
Tasted: Sept 2015
The 2012 vintage of the Palazzo Maffei Ripasso Valpolicella Superiore is a robust Italian red wine with mouth-watering acidity. - Community Wine Reviews
