Pago De Valdoneje 2016 is a youthful, unoaked Spanish Mencia red wine from Vinos Valtuille, a small boutique winery owned by the Garcia Alba family in the Bierzo wine region. Look for ripe blackberries, anise, earthy florals and mint on the palate. The 30-acre winery in Mencia wine grapes extends from the small village of Valtuille de Abajo to the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage route. Vinos Valtuille was founded in 1999, but the vine-growing and winemaking traditions of its ancestors date back to 1910. Look for bright red berries and light herbs on this drink-now red. Pair with grilled sausages and hard cheeses.

Mencía food pairings: lamb stew, sausage cassoulet, hamburgers.

Red, White & Drunk all over by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean writes about wine with a sensuous obsession... and often laugh-out-loud funny... Terrific.

Ms. MacLean is the disarming Everywoman. She loves wine, loves drinking ... ultimately, it's a winning formula.

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
