Delish on the nose with black currant, licorice, black cherry, espresso, cigar box aromas. Ripe with black cherry, blueberry, dark chocolate, sous bois and smoky flavours on the palate. Big and rich mostly Nero d'Avola and a splash of Cabernet Sauvignon. Tannins are velvety.

Food pairings: pasta and rich tomato sauce, rich stews, roast chicken.

Reviews and Ratings

From the Sicily wine region, Orestiadi Ludovico 2012 is a robust under $20 Nero d'Avola red wine blend of 90% Nero D’Avola and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Excellent value for the 2012 Ludovico - a ultra-balanced beauty with ripe blueberry, dark plum and juniper berry aromas on the nose. Soft and supple with a mouthful of dark berry, plum, dark chocolate, cedar spice and savoury herb flavours smooth on the palate. So, so good. Pair with a grilled flat iron steak. This vintage was awarded 2 Glasses out of 3 in the 2018 Gambero Rosso Italian Wines Guide. - Community Wine Reviews
