Produced by Franz & Christine Netzl. Aromas of grapefruit and lime zest. The gruner veltliner grapes for this vibrant Austrian white wine are grown in the winery's estate vineyards of Rothenberg, Plutzer and Hagelsberg. Lots of racy acidity for fresh seafood and shellfish.

Grüner Veltliner food pairings: Austrian kitchen such as Wiener Schnitzel, roasted or fried chicken, pickled knuckle of pork, cold buffet, fish and seafood.

Reviews and Ratings

Greg Hughes rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

This is really crisp and herbaceous Grüner - teeming with energetic acidity and aromatics.
This wine was sourced from three different estates owned and operated by Fritz and Christine Netzl. This wine a bit more structure than other Grüners available from the Carnuntum viticultural area. They are quite variable in this region, since the have so many soil types to play with.
Super pale colouration - pale lemon-green.
Grapefruit and white lily on the nose. Lemon zest, celery, and white pepper.
Very tart citrus-laden flavour profile. Lemon, green herbs, green pear, and with a pronounced minerality.
Energizing, in its freshmess. Stuffed clamshells on a bed of baby greens come to mind, as a pairing.
Sylvain Segard rated this wine as 89/100 with the following review:

Very pale yellow-green colour. With a showy grapefruit zest aroma, this Grüner Veltliner is quite herbal in character. Tastes like pears, wet stone, and herbs. It has a high and long lasting watery acidity, almost salty on the finish. This would be a a great pairing with grilles chicken rubbed in herbs or a "vols-aux-vent" with chicken or shrimp in béchamel. Score 89. (S.Segard, reviewed Jan. 2017.)
soil nutritious loess with some gravel
climate All of the three vineyards are cooler places, which benefit from the chilled winds of the nearby River Danube, especially during hot summers. This factor allows for the intensive aromatic and fizzy acidity in the grapes to be preserved. Specifically “Rothenberg” with its’ red gravel (iron) brings minerality and the typical “pepper” to our Grüner Veltliner.
vinification harvested and selected by hand, singleberry-selection in the cellar, fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks at about 18 °C to preserve fresh and crispy style
alc
Marked aroma of the variety with no shortage of fruits such as green apples, on the palate peppery spice, fresh and balanced
