Vintages Wine Panel: Without a doubt, Nero d’Avola is Sicily’s best-known and most widely planted native black grape. Nero d’Avola takes well to barrel maturation, and expresses wild plum and dark chocolate aromas, with firm tannins and lively acidity surrounding the fruit. It is also valued in blends (especially with international varieties) for contributing intense color, full body, fresh acidity and good tannins. My note: What a vibrantly beautiful wine. Rushes out to meet you from the glass with fleshy ripe cherries, spice and plum. Gorgeous palate with rich layers, silky tannins and a warm blackberry-infused finish. Terrific value.

Nero D’Avola food pairings: bianco sardo cheese, pasta alla norma, sausages.

Unquenchable by Natalie MacLean

Natalie MacLean is a new force in the wine writing world ‐ a fiesty North American answer to Hugh Johnson and Jancis Robinson. She can write beautifully about wine.

The Financial Times of London

There are very few people in the wine world who "get it" and Natalie is one of those who brings more fun to a buttoned-up and stodgy game.
