Smooth and almost full-bodied BC red wine made from the classic, but difficult grape, Pinot Noir. Aromas and flavours of cherry liqueur and mocha from oak aging. Velvet smooth. Pair with grilled chicken.

Reviews and Ratings

An individually-styled wine with beautiful combination of black cherry, tobacco and cedar spice. Restrained yet concentrated with luscious body and subtle tannins that create a velvet mouth feel with a lingering mineral finish. Beautiful forest floor, with earthy notes. Refined yet powerful.

Grapes are hand-picked into small 30 pound trays. Date of picking being of the utmost importance to ensure that we get grapes with the highest possible level of phenolic and flavour maturity. Grapes were cooled overnight to 10C and then whole bunch fermented in 3400 wooden vat at 32C. Daily punch down, with 30 days on the skins. Aged in a combination of new and older French oak for 9 months.

The 2013 growing season had two distinctly different chapters. An unpredictable cold and wet spell late in September had us change gears and put our patience and nerve to the ultimate test. The season started with normal bud-break in the middle of April. Above average June temperatures led to earlier verasion. The grapes picked before the rain showed intense fruit flavours associated with a hot and dry ripening season. The second chapter of 2013 was a nerve-wracking waiting game, with cool rainy weather slowing ripening and also bringing the added concern of rot. A long and sunny patch in late October saved the day and, those lucky bunches that enjoyed this weather on the vine achieved full phenolic ripeness.
